Congratulations to our new students.
Meredith first came to Blackfriars in 2011-2012 as a visiting student from Providence College, where she majored in Humanities. During her year, she studied philosophy and classics in the traditional Oxford tutorial-style and, in her spare time, rowed with the St. Benet’s Hall Boat Club in the Christ Church and Torpid Regattas. She loved her year as a visiting student so much that she returned to Blackfriars for a second BA in Philosophy and Theology in 2013, which she tailored to her interest in ethics and the works of Aristotle and Aquinas. During her course, Meredith was honoured to be elected President of the joint JCR/MCR, which hosted numerous social events, ranging from pizza nights to a game of assassins.
Following her degree, Meredith was offered a training contract at an international commercial law firm in London. She is living happily in Wimbledon with her fiance, whom she met at Oxford. Meredith describes her time at Blackfriars as transformative, and believes its tight-knit and warm community makes it Oxford’s hidden gem.
