Aquinas Group
The Aquinas Group offers young adults an opportunity to enrich their spiritual and intellectual lives by studying the writings of St Thomas Aquinas.
We meet on Mondays in term at 7.15pm. We begin with a light meal, then read and discuss the texts guided by one of the friars, before finishing by praying Compline (night prayer) together in the priory church. This term we will be looking at St Thomas’ philosophical and theological anthropology, namely his understanding of the human person. We will look at questions such as the relation between body and soul, how our thinking and willing shape who we are, and the nature of moral action. We will also consider more theological themes such as grace, the theological virtues (faith, hope, and charity), and what happens to the soul after we die.
If you would like to attend, please email to register your interest. No prior knowledge or familiarity with St Thomas is expected.
