The Dominican Order launched its 800th jubilee yesterday with events in Dominican priories across the world. The Master of the Order, fr. Bruno Cadoré, celebrated Mass at Santa Sabina with a large gathering of the wider Dominican family, including friars, sisters, and laity. Blackfriars, Oxford, will be marking the jubilee at the 6.15pm Mass on Sunday 15th November, with a reception after the Mass to which all are warmly invited.
The Prior Provincial of the Province of England, fr. John Farrell, has issued a jubilee message, which you can read by clicking here.
The Master of the Order, fr. Bruno Cadoré, has also issued a jubilee message, which you can watch here:
There was also an international campaign, of which Dominican student brother, Br Joseph Bailham was a part, to promote the jubilee via Twitter encouraging all peoples to "tweet" a happy birthday message to the Order's English account, @Dominican_Order, using the hashtag, #op800. It is still not too late to wish us happy birthday or to use the hashtag as it will be in use through this jubilee year.
On Saturday 7th November, the Dominican Order launched its 800th jubilee with celebrations at Santa Sabina in Rome, and an online Twitter campaign.
