Blackfriars’ Senior Research Fellow Prof Roger Scruton awarded Knighthood

Congratulations to Prof Roger Scruton on his Knighthood.

A Senior Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, Professor Roger Scruton was awarded his Knighthood in the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours 2016. He said: ‘I feel grateful and encouraged to receive this honour for work that has in any case always been for me a reward in itself.’

Prof Scruton is a philosopher, public commentator and author of over 40 books. He has specialised in aesthetics with particular attention to music and architecture. He engages in contemporary political and cultural debates from the standpoint of a conservative thinker and is well known as a powerful polemicist. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a fellow of the British Academy.
