Happy Pentecost!

30th May 2020

Dear Friends,

I hope that you are all still safe and well, and that the confinement is a time not only of trial, but also of blessing and graces from God.

Good News

I’d like to start by sharing the very good news that Fr Richard Finn has now tested negative for Coronavirus, and has begun to reintegrate into the life of the community. He is very grateful for all your prayers and good wishes, and is enjoying participating fully once more.

Celebrating Pentecost together

Please do join us in the events this weekend to celebrate Pentecost, which is our patronal feast (as the Priory of the Holy Spirit).

In addition to our 9.30am Sunday Mass, we will have a special 9pm Saturday Evening Rosary Vigil, with a sermon by a student brother, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the Rosary, and concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament all interwoven with a range of chant and polyphony.

Also on Sunday at 6pm, we will have Solemn Vespers of Pentecost streamed live on YouTube.

Invite Your Friends to the Vigil !

I would like to encourage you to tell friends and family what we offer online, and especially to tell them about the sung Rosary Vigil.

Pentecost is a time when the Holy Spirit was revealed, and that same Spirit enabled the mission of the Church, to spread the Good News to the ends of the earth.

Our hope and prayer is that more people will come to know this Priory of the Holy Spirit, and in these difficult times gain comfort and strength through sharing in what we offer. Perhaps our vigil service might be a step towards that.

Not Just Theologians

If you haven’t seen the ‘Not Just Theologians’ series, about the friars’ wide-ranging personal interests, please do take a look.

There are two episodes already posted, and a new one featuring an interview with me on my passion for Irish music, posted today on the Godzdogz YouTube channel.

THank you!

Finally, a heartfelt thanks once again to all who have sent letters, cards, messages of support and encoragement, and donations to help us. We are greatly diminished by not being able to see you all here, but are praying for a time when a prudent and safe return to worship can take place.

God bless,

Fr Robert
