New Academic Year: News from Blackfriars

24th October 2024

We welcome the new intake of students to Blackfriars Hall.

Twenty students matriculated into the University last Saturday, joining the over 800 who have studied at Blackfriars Hall since 1994.

As well as students studying in our core area of theology and philosophy, we are also pleased to welcome into our community those studying disciplines including archaeology and anthropology, languages, law, social sciences and sustainable urban development.

In other news, a number of events connected with our research centres are now being advertised (see Calendar). A public lecture with Sir James MacMillan will take place on Monday.

The project to create a dining space for students / public café is now at the tendering stage, with the goal of commencing work in the new year. Some delays were encountered over the summer period, requiring a longer timeframe for the project. We still urgently need contributions from donors towards the costs, and matched funding for gifts from alumni is still open (every amount given will be matched by a donor). See here for details.
