Job Opportunity - Senior Tutor

Blackfriars Hall wishes to appoint a part-time Senior Tutor. Working hours are 10-15 hours per week (to be determined with applicant) and such hours as are necessary for the proper performance of duties. Salary £37,000 (per annum, pro-rata).

About Blackfriars Hall

Blackfriars Hall is a small Permanent Private Hall of the University of Oxford which specializes in philosophy, theology and related subjects. It is run by the English Province of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in the Catholic tradition. The Hall has around 50 students, most of whom are graduates, with some visiting students and a small number of undergraduates. It has two research centres: The Aquinas Institute and The Las Casas Institute for Social Justice. The Hall shares staff and facilities with Blackfriars Studium, which trains students for the Catholic priesthood.

 The Role of the Senior Tutor:

The Senior Tutor is a Fellow of Blackfriars Hall and attends meetings of the Moderators of the Hall.The Senior Tutor has responsibility for the day-to-day administration of academic and welfare matters, for the strategic development of the Hall’s academic activities and is the Tutor for Graduate Students. The  Senior Tutor serves as the Hall’s lead for Equality and Diversity matters and as the Hall’s Disabilities Officer.

Blackfriars Hall is a Catholic institution and the Senior Tutor should work within and be supportive of the Catholic ethos of the Hall. Blackfriars Hall is an equal opportunities employer.
