Pope Benedict XVI’s Spe Salvi – Reading Group
27th January 2021: 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm GMT
An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until 3rd March 2021
Reading Group: Pope Benedict XVI’s Spe Salvi
Over six weeks the reading group will discuss this too often neglected encyclical. Topics include the nature of specifically Christian hope, the meaning of death, and the secularisation and loss of hope in the modern world.
The discussion will be led by Edward Hadas, Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, Oxford. His book Counsels of Imperfections: Thinking Through Catholic Social Teaching was published in the autumn by Catholic University of America Press. He is also a financial journalist who writes regularly for Reuters Breakingviews.
Participation in the group is free and open to all. Registration is required.
