Humanitarian Assistance in International Law
16th November: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm GMT

Marina Sharpe, Associate Professor of International Law at the Royal Military College Saint-Jean, has written the first comprehensive account of how public international law governs humanitarian assistance across multiple contexts. Structured by humanitarian assistance contexts rather than legal regimes, and showing how international law applies in real-world operational settings, Sharpe examines how international law governs UN, state, and non-state humanitarian actors. She will be hosted by the Las Casas Institute on Monday the 16th of November at 4pm in the Aula of Blackfriars Hall to discuss the themes of her book. Emanuela-Chiara Gillard, Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law, and Armed Conflict, and Claude Maon, Legal Director of Intersectional Law at Medecins Sans Frontieres, will act as discussants. Hugo Slim, Director of the Las Casas Institute, will chair this event.
Marina Sharpe’s book is available for purchase through OUP and a discount is available with the code: AUFLY30.
This event is free and open to everyone. Registration in required.
