For Members of our Congregation

On 9 March the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales implemented stage 2 of its advice for parishes on managing Coronavirus. Although Blackfriars is not a parish we have decided to implement this advice at Blackfriars. Essentially this advice requires four main changes to current liturgical practice at Blackfriars.

•  We will suspend the distribution of Holy Communion under both kinds to all members of the congregation.
• Holy Communion will be given on the hand only.
• We will suspend the physical sign of peace.
• Holy water will be removed from the stoups.

No one should be alarmed by these measures. They are purely precautionary and will remain in place until either the coronavirus outbreak is over or the Prior determines them no longer necessary. We will continue to review and update these measures as best practice recommends.
