Reopening of the Priory Church

22nd June 2020

Private Prayer

The priory church will be open on Saturdays between 10am and 12noon. This change is to better facilitate the public celebration of Holy Mass.

This has been made possible by the generous help of our congregation, who will be marshalling and stewarding the church while it is open.

There are a number of procedures which have to be followed in order to keep everyone safe. Obviously this will involve observing the protocols on proper social distance, but will also involve some restrictions which are specific to the context of the church. Please note the following:

  • Use the hand sanitiser provided as you enter and leave the church;
  • Follow the one way system;
  • Feel free to wear a face mask;
  • Do not touch any statues or altars;
  • The majority of the chairs have been removed, so please bear with us if it becomes busy.

If you are displaying any cold or flu symptoms, please do not enter the church building. We would also advise those most vulnerable to refrain from visiting the church.

There are no toilet facilities available.

A range of resources are available online for visits to the Blessed Sacrament. The Catholic Truth Society have a number of books on sale that you might find useful, including this companion to Eucharistic Adoration which contains prayers, readings, and devotional images.

Public Celebration of Holy Mass

The church is opening for Holy Mass. There will be Mass said publicly at 6pm Monday-Saturday, and at 11.15am and 6pm on Sundays. A booking system will be in operation.
