Solferino 21

24th January 2022

This year is the 160th anniversary of the publication of Henri Dunant’s seminal humanitarian text A Memory of Solferino in 1862. Dunant’s powerful book famously inspired the launch the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the First Geneva Convention of 1864.

To mark the anniversary, Hugo Slim, our Senior Research Fellow at the Las Casas Institute, has written Solferino 21 which examines the state of warfare, civilians, and humanitarian aid in the twenty first century so far and its likely evolution in the next ten years.

Solferino 21 is published by Hurst in London and distributed by Oxford University Press in North America.

A book launch is going to be held at the Blavatnik School of Government at 5pm on Tuesday 22 February 2022 and live-streamed at the same time.
To attend, registration (free) is necessary.
