The Newman Lecture: Sir James MacMillan

26th May 2022

Yesterday evening, honorary fellow of Blackfriars, Sir James MacMillan, delighted a full hall in Somerville College as he lectured on ‘Music & Some Wider Implications: a Catholic composer’s perspective’. The University’s Chancellor, Lord Patten, chaired the wide-ranging Q&A following the thoughtful and thought-provoking talk.

The John Henry Newman Annual Lecture is offered to the University of Oxford by its Catholic Halls: Blackfriars, Campion Hall, and St Benet’s.
