Dr Ahmad Akkad
Junior Research Fellow
Dr Ahmad Akkad is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Education Department, and he is leading research on the MENA region for the project International Mobility and World Development. He is a convenor of the Diary Method Reading Group in the department.
Ahmad has taught at the University of Warwick on the MA course Global Education and International Development, and he was a Lecturer of Linguistics at Aleppo University and Cordoba Private University. He has been involved in research projects at the University of Warwick and other organisations, e.g. the Association of Commonwealth Universities, London, and he has worked with the UN via several NGOs on projects for promoting student access to quality education in conflict-affected Syria.
Ahmad’s interdisciplinary research lies broadly within the field of Education and International Development, and within different areas of Education Studies. He is particularly interested in the interplay between higher education, conflict and reconstruction, academic mobility and displacement, the academic profession, and qualitative research. Ahmad is an Editorial Board member (ECR) at the Higher Education Quarterly Journal.
