Dr Cristiana Sessini
Junior Research Fellow
Dr Cristiana Sessini is a Junior Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, Oxford, specialising in Plato and ancient Greek mystery religion. Her research challenges dominant secular and rationalist interpretations of Plato by highlighting the importance of mysticism and theology in his philosophy. She is currently preparing a monograph based on her doctoral research on the Orphic background to Plato’s metaphysics and epistemology; DPhil in Classical Languages and Literature was obtained in 2025. Her next project develops a theologically grounded interpretation of Plato’s political philosophy across the Republic, Statesman, and Laws.
