Dr Eduardo F. Gutiérrez González
Junior Research Fellow
Dr Gutiérrez is an Assistant Professor at the Centre of Theological Formation at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia; he is also a Research Fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown University. His interdisciplinary work as an academic and activist bridges research, teaching, and international consultancy at the intersection of religion and peacebuilding.
Dr Gutiérrez completed his DPhil in Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford with highest honours. Supervised by Professor Alister McGrath and Dr Maria Power, and examined by Professor John Paul Lederach and Professor Mark Wynn, his doctoral research —fully funded by the Porticus Foundation— examined the role of imagination in peacebuilding, focusing on religious imaginaries in the Colombian Truth Commission’s Report. He holds an MSt in Science and Religion from Oxford (Oriel College) and previously studied philosophy at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (MA) and Universidad de La Sabana (BA).
Dr Gutiérrez is interested in imagination, spirituality, world-building in art and literature, and the peaceable potential of philosophical resources, especially dialogical and analogical reasoning.
