
Peter Róna
Research Fellow, Director of the Las Casas Institute's Economics Programme
Peter Rona teaches economics at Blackfriars Hall and Studium and researches the philosophical foundations of the social sciences. He is also one of the Programme Directors for the Las Casas Institute.
He obtained his Honours Degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania before graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in law from the University of Oxford.
After a distinguished career in the United States, where he became a member of the New York Bar and the President of IBJ Schroder Bank & Trust Co., he returned to the country of his birth, Hungary and served as the CEO of the First Hungary Fund from which he retired in 2003. Between 2004 and 2010 he taught law at Eötvös Lóránd University in Budapest. Between 2010 and 2015 he served as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of Hungary. He became a Fellow of Blackfriars Hall in 2011. In 2022 he was the joint candidate of the opposition for the office of the President of Hungary.
