New Building: First students move in

3rd October 2019

Our builders and staff managed just in time to complete and equip the new apartment at the top of Blackfriars’ new annexe building. The first students have now moved in.

Perfect for students

This apartment is now providing a home for four students, with en-suite bathrooms and a shared kitchen / diner. Sliding doors open onto a terrace which offers a fine view north over the rooftops to Somerville College and the Oratory church. See below for pictures.

“The accommodation is beautifully constructed, with emphasis on comfortable living. I love the modern design, the resources provided and the wonderful view”
– Faizan (MSc, Modern South Asian Studies)

“It’s amazing how these modern, accessible accommodations, built with graduate students in mind, have helped me to settle in, begin studying, and join the Blackfriars community. I really appreciate them.”

-Jennifer (DPhil, Theology)

Meanwhile, work continues on the rest of the building throughout October to complete the commercial shop space and the offices, meeting and teaching rooms, and SCR, for Blackfriars, to be ready for kitting out in November.
