Annual Programme

Many of our activities follow an annual pattern:

The Aquinas Seminar series, Hilary Term.
Specialist academics present papers and lead discussions of topics related to a central theme, normally one relating to our research interests. Typically, the papers are recorded and made available on YouTube.
The Aquinas Colloquium, Hilary Term.
This draws together a group of international experts to give different perspectives on a chosen theme, often one relating to our research interests. Typically, the papers are recorded and made available on YouTube.
The Aquinas Lecture, Hilary Term
This flagship annual event welcomes a visiting lecturer who speaks on a theme of his or her choosing.
Advanced Aquinas Reading Class, Michaelmas Term
This 8-week course is provided for students in their final year of theology, and for students commencing master’s-level study of mediaeval thought. It enables them to study a wide range of Aquinas’s writings at graduate level.

Conferences and Workshops
We sponsor occasional conferences and workshops, both on the thought of Aquinas, and in areas of philosophy, theology, and current debate where Aquinas’ thought and Thomist scholars can make a significant contribution. Often these have been and are organised in collaboration with other centres, such the “Aquinas and ‘the Arabs’ International Working Group”, the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, Birmingham, and the Humane Philosophy Project.
Special Lectures and Seminars
The Institute sponsors special lectures or seminars, for example to enable visiting scholars to present their research and to receive feed-back.
