Politics and Freedom of Speech

How do we advance free debate in the age of information wars?

Free speech and constructive political debate are essential to human dignity and to the collaborative task of discerning the common good. Yet free speech may be threatened or restricted by authoritarian regimes, by groups intolerant of diverse opinions, or impoverished through misuse of social media.

Free Speech at the Crossroads; comprises monthly discussions of specific topics with a four-person panel chaired by Sandford J Ungar (Georgetown) and followed by Q&A chaired by Michael Scott, (Blackfriars). Click here for a list of topics and YouTube recordings.

Here is a link that will take you to our Free Speech at the Crossroads web page. We recommend watching our latest discussion, Forever Young or Newly Vulnerable?

Additionally, for more information on the Free Speech Project, you can click this link to explore the Georgetown website.
